Russian National Arrested in Busan Over Violent Fake Crypto Deal
A Russian suspect has been apprehended by Seoul’s Gangseo Police Precinct for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent cryptocurrency transaction. The scheme lured South Korean men to a hotel under the guise of a peer-to-peer exchange, culminating in an attempted theft of 1 billion won ($728,000). Two accomplices reportedly fled the country.
The incident turned violent, with victims assaulted using blunt objects during the confrontation. Authorities revealed that ten individuals were invited to a Gangseo District hotel, where the fake deal was to take place. The case underscores the risks associated with unregulated crypto transactions.
